Fusion HCR is seeking an experienced iSeries Engineer to join a high-performing IT infrastructure team supporting a large-scale hotel and casino property. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and security of core business systems that run on the IBM i (iSeries/AS400) platform.
Role Overview:
As the iSeries Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of IBM i systems that support essential property-wide operations including gaming, hospitality, finance, and back-office services. You'll play a vital role in supporting 24/7 systems uptime and ensuring regulatory compliance in a highly secure, high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide daily administration, monitoring, and support for IBM i (iSeries/AS400) environments.
Perform system backups, restores, patching, and firmware upgrades.
Support and troubleshoot iSeries-based applications used in gaming, hotel management, POS, and finance.
Monitor system performance and capacity; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Coordinate planned maintenance, system upgrades, and outage recovery with minimal business disruption.
Maintain system and operations documentation, including DR/BCP runbooks and audit logs.
Ensure adherence to gaming regulations, PCI standards, and internal security policies.
Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams (infrastructure, networking, applications) to support property-wide initiatives.
Provide after-hours support as part of an on-call rotation or during critical maintenance windows.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience managing IBM i / iSeries / AS400 systems in a production environment.
Strong understanding of IBM i architecture, CL programming, job scheduling (e.g., Robot, HelpSystems), and system utilities.
Experience in the hospitality or gaming industry is highly preferred.
Working knowledge of database management on DB2 for iSeries.
Familiarity with data replication, system mirroring, and backup strategies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable operating in a high-availability, 24/7 business setting.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Nevada Gaming Control Board registration or equivalent gaming license.
Experience with integration between iSeries and third-party systems, such as POS, hotel PMS, or slot systems.
Exposure to compliance-driven environments (e.g., PCI, SOX, MICS).
Familiarity with PowerHA, BRMS, and system performance tools.
