SharePoint Architect / Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Contract position, remote with international travel requirements

Position Overview
Fusion HCR is seeking a highly experienced SharePoint Architect / SME to lead the design, deployment, and implementation of a SharePoint collaboration platform for our client in the hospitality and gaming industry. This role will be responsible for building and standing up a SharePoint environment from the ground up to support a new international casino operation.

The SharePoint Architect will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to design a scalable, secure, and well-governed SharePoint environment. This includes defining architecture, implementing governance, configuring hybrid capabilities, and ensuring seamless integration with Microsoft 365 services.

This role requires strong architectural expertise, hands-on deployment experience, and the ability to engage directly with executive and operational stakeholders. Travel to the UAE will be required during key phases of the project to support deployment, planning, and stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Environment Design

• Design and implement SharePoint architecture to support enterprise collaboration and document management
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate deployment model (SharePoint Online, On-Premises, or Hybrid) based on business and technical requirements
• Develop overall information architecture including site hierarchy, taxonomy, metadata, and governance structure
• Establish standards for site provisioning, permissions, document management, and lifecycle management

Deployment & Implementation

• Lead the deployment and configuration of SharePoint environments from the ground up
• Configure SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server (if hybrid/on-prem), and Microsoft 365 integrations
• Implement hybrid connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments as required
• Configure authentication, access control, and integration with Azure Active Directory / Entra ID

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Develop and implement governance policies and best practices
• Configure role-based access controls, permissions models, and security policies
• Ensure compliance with organizational security and regulatory requirements
• Establish backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies

Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering

• Meet directly with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and define collaboration needs
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Provide architectural guidance and recommendations to leadership and technical teams
• Support user adoption and organizational readiness

Integration & Collaboration Platform Enablement

• Integrate SharePoint with Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and other Microsoft 365 services
• Support integration with enterprise applications and business systems
• Enable workflows and automation using Microsoft Power Platform tools where appropriate

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Document architecture, configuration, and operational procedures
• Develop implementation roadmaps and technical standards
• Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to internal IT teams

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with SharePoint architecture, deployment, and administration
• Proven experience deploying SharePoint environments from the ground up
• Strong expertise with SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server, and hybrid deployments
• Experience designing enterprise collaboration platforms and governance frameworks
• Strong experience with Microsoft 365 ecosystem including Teams, OneDrive, and Azure AD / Entra ID
• Experience with identity management, authentication, and access control
• Ability to engage directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong architecture, design, and implementation experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing SharePoint in hybrid cloud environments
• Experience supporting large enterprise or multi-site deployments
• Experience in hospitality, gaming, or regulated enterprise environments
• Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
• Microsoft certifications related to SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or Azure
• Experience supporting international deployments

Travel Requirements

• Travel to UAE required during initial deployment and stakeholder engagement phases
• Remaining work can be performed remotely
