Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to build and lead the accounting function for a growing ~$15M organization. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing all accounting processes, owning NetSuite, and managing cost accounting. The ideal candidate is a true doer who is comfortable operating independently, rolling up their sleeves, and creating structure where none currently exists.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build, implement, and maintain all accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls from the ground up

  • Own day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timely and accurate financial reporting

  • Manage and optimize NetSuite, including setup, workflows, reporting, and integrations

  • Oversee cost accounting, including product costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and margin analysis

  • Prepare and present financial statements, forecasts, and variance analysis to leadership

  • Manage budgeting and cash flow forecasting

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements

  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners

  • Support operational leaders with financial insights to drive profitability and efficiency

  • Scale processes and systems to support company growth


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or senior-level responsibility

  • Strong NetSuite experience required

  • Proven cost accounting experience (manufacturing or product-based environment strongly preferred)

  • Experience building accounting processes and controls in a growing or entrepreneurial environment

  • Highly hands-on with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
