Job Title: SQL Database Developer
Location: Las Vegas, NV (100% Onsite)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Industry: Casino/Hospitality
Position Summary:
Fusion HCR is seeking a highly skilled SQL Database Developer for a direct hire opportunity with one of our premier clients in the casino and hospitality industry. This onsite Las Vegas-based role requires a strong background in developing and optimizing enterprise-grade SQL database solutions with hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure, specifically Azure SQL Hyperscale and high availability database architectures.
The ideal candidate will not only be fluent in T-SQL development and performance tuning but will also be capable of architecting and managing scalable, redundant SQL environments in the cloud. We are looking for someone who brings deep infrastructure-level experience—not just reporting or analytics—with the ability to build, monitor, and maintain mission-critical databases in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Azure SQL Database solutions, with a focus on Azure SQL Hyperscale.
- Create and manage high availability configurations, including geo-replication, failover groups, and backup/restore strategies in Azure.
- Optimize and tune T-SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures for performance across large datasets.
- Develop and maintain SSIS packages and SSRS reports as needed, while ensuring core focus remains on robust database infrastructure.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to automate database provisioning, scaling, and monitoring.
- Implement and maintain data security, role-based access control, and compliance configurations in cloud-based SQL environments.
- Build tools and processes for database CI/CD using tools like Azure DevOps, PowerShell, and ARM/Bicep templates.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Analyze complex data requirements and design efficient database structures to support business needs.
- Ensure data consistency, availability, and system performance across highly regulated environments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in SQL development and database administration, with at least 2+ years working with Azure SQL.
- Hands-on experience building and managing Azure SQL Hyperscale and other cloud-based relational database services.
- Proficient in T-SQL, stored procedures, query optimization, indexing strategies, and database schema design.
- Experience with Azure-native tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Data Factory, and Resource Manager.
- Familiarity with HA/DR solutions, including Always On availability groups, geo-replication, and auto-failover groups.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, including networking, security, identity, and monitoring.
- Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and ETL processes is a plus—but not the primary focus of this role.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for automation tasks.
- Experience in gaming, sports betting, or hospitality industries is preferred but not required.
