Tax Accountant

Fusion HCR has a direct hire opportunity in the Dayton, OH for a Tax Accountant.  In this role you will prepare and assist in the timely filing of all tax returns including assistance with the preparation of federal and state returns and use tax, property tax, and miscellaneous business tax returns. You will support the department in its day-to-day customer service including compensation and profit distributions. You will be responsible for reconciliation of accounts and for implementation of the compensation and capital policies and procedures. You will work to improve efficiencies by automating processes and utilizing enhanced technology resources.

About This Role
  • Reviews purchases on a monthly basis to determine applicability of use tax.
  • Prepares and files use tax returns as required (monthly, quarterly, annually) including payment voucher requests.
  • Prepares and files all personal property tax returns for various jurisdictions including payment voucher requests.
  • Prepares and files all miscellaneous business tax returns including payment voucher requests.
  • Analyzes monthly meals and entertainment expense accounts and supporting documentation. Prepares Schedule M-1 adjustment tax workpapers.  
  • Gathers appropriate documentation to support charitable deductions on tax return, point of contact for internal and external charitable reporting to multiple parties.
  • Assists with annual audit and tax schedule preparation for external auditor and tax preparer.
  • Reconciles activity in various accounts monthly.
  • Assists with payroll (monthly, quarterly and others, as needed), and corresponding journal entries posted to the general ledger.
  • Assists department management as needed to ensure reporting is timely delivered: profit, projected earnings, and capital statements.
  • Assist with preparation and filing of quarterly estimated tax payments and extension tax payments in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist with distribution and collection of annual tax questionnaire
  • Responds to tax notices and assist with tax audits as necessary.
  • Participates or manages special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
Your Qualifications/What You Will Bring
  • Experience with tax compliance in the areas of sales and use tax, personal property tax, and business tax returns is required. 
  • Partnership and individual tax compliance and issues including multi-jurisdictional tax filings and analysis, group composite returns, withholding payments, Schedule K-1 reporting, etc. is preferred.   
  • Knowledge of the relationship of the financial function to the overall operation and management of an organization
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to perform complex financial analysis and to handle diverse tasks and regularly prioritize tasks to respond to changing management needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressure.
  • Excellent writing skills including knowledge of business English to present information that requires some origination and/or compilation.
  • Ability to effectively use PC-based and on-line technology, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software currently in use. General ledger experience preferred, particularly posting entries, account analysis and account reconciliation.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with people at various levels.
Required Experience
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance Preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience:
  • Two-five years’ experience directly related to the duties or skills described herein.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred
