Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate records of the company’s fixed assets, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation. The ideal candidate will support monthly closings, ensure compliance with internal controls, and assist with audits.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the fixed asset subledger in accordance with company policy and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).

  • Record asset acquisitions, transfers, and disposals with appropriate documentation.

  • Calculate and record depreciation expenses monthly and reconcile to the general ledger.

  • Conduct periodic physical inventory audits of fixed assets.

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.

  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for fixed asset-related transactions.

  • Review capital expenditure requests to ensure compliance with capitalization policies.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing fixed asset schedules and documentation.

  • Collaborate with departments to track assets and provide financial insights as needed.

  • Continuously improve fixed asset processes and support system enhancements or implementations.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably with a focus on fixed assets.

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP (or IFRS if applicable) and internal control practices.

  • Experience with fixed asset accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Sage) is a plus.

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.

  • Familiarity with capital budgeting and asset lifecycle management.
